Acura is scheduled to release a concept car which it terms as future of its entire brands design language. The automaker has already released teaser images of the expected Acura Precision Concept, a full concept will be displayed next week at this year’s Detroit Auto Show to be held on January 11th and 12th 2016.
According to the company’s design director, Dave Marek, they will use the design to add a large performance feel to its brand particularly for its sedans. The teaser image reveals a sleek-looking vehicle accentuated by bulging fenders and coupe-like lines which hint at a sporty design.
Acura Precision Concept Exterior
From the teaser image the automaker released, the model has a whole new design. At the front, the vehicle seems to have a long hood meaning the passenger compartment is located far back such that the driver and front passenger will seat almost at the center of the car.
Due to the size of the cabin, the 4-door sedan will feature large doors. It appears to have a long dash-to-axle ratio which means it could have a longitudinal engine layout. The Precision also features a strong character line which runs from the aft of the front wheels and continues to swoop back and then up to the back of the greenhouse glass. Other features include fender bulges and a small deck-lid at the rear.
Acura Precision Concept Interior
It is too early to speculate on its interior design considering the fact that the interior could still be a mystery even during its showcasing this week at Detroit. However, I expect the vehicle to borrow much styling from the RLX sedan.
Assuming this is true, the interior would then feature sewn leather upholstery on the seats as well as on the door and dash panels. Its instruments cluster will be rather simplistic as cluttered clusters are becoming a turn off nowadays. The instrument cluster will likely be digitized replacing analogue gauges with digital ones.
The center stack would feature two displays, a touch-screen integrated with the vehicle’s infotainment system while the other will be used to display navigation and other important information on the vehicle. Expect up-to-date technological matters such as Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, Smartphone integration, Wi-Fi and a premium sound system with many speakers to name just but a few.
The automaker will also equip the Precision with a number of safety features such as bolstered airbags, traction and stability control, parking assist, ABS, collision warning, rearview camera and parking assist among others.
What the automaker will feature under the hood is still a mystery. Considering the fact that the automaker will focus on performance, we could expect a 3.5 L engine paired with a hybrid system adopted form the RLX Sport Hybrid. This combination produces 377 hp in the RLX and could be tweaked to increase a little bit on the Precision considering its focus on performance.
Another likely drive-train is a tuned down version of the engine featured in the current NSX. This engine which features 3 motors pumps 572 hp on the NSX but this figure would be tuned down to around 430 hp on the Precision. The Precision will likely be offered as an all wheel drive model.
Much of the information will be clarified when the model makes its debut next week .Be sure to come back for more information on this Acura Precision concept when it comes out. Meanwhile browse through to check out other cars.
