2016 Chevrolet Avalanche

If you are an enthusiast of the Chevrolet Avalanche, you have a reason to celebrate. After a three year’s break, the Chevrolet Avalanche is set to make a comeback to the pickup truck market.

This truck is very special from others due to its functional cargo space design. The new vehicle will be more attractive, more aggressive, more powerful and more fuel efficient.

2016 Chevrolet Avalanche Exterior

Since the model was last produced three years ago, expect some significant changes on its exterior profile to reflect changes in the industry. The 2016 Chevrolet Avalanche will be offered in three trim levels which will be the LS, LT and LTZ together with the Black Diamond edition.

The model will retain the predecessor’s dimensions, as such the 2016 Chevrolet Avalanche will stretch 221.3 inches long, with a width of 79.1 inches and stand at a height of 76.6 inches. Most of the vehicle’s specs are still a highly guarded secret. However, we understand that the vehicle will be based on the same platform as Chevy Suburban and Cadillac Escalade.  We expect a complete redesign of its exterior including new metallic colors.  According to rumors, both its headlights and taillights will utilize LED technology which will give it an appealing look. The front bumper as well as the grille will also be redesigned.

The body will utilize light-weight material and thus the new Avalanche will be lighter compared to its predecessor. However, what makes this 4-door pickup truck special from others is its functional design that creates huge cargo space. The vehicle features an open bed design which opens up the rear part. The rear features 3 folding panels which are detachable as well as a detachable window. When they are detached, the rear seats can then be folded to increase the vehicle’s cargo space.

2016 Chevrolet Avalanche Interior

Just like other specs, details on its interior are still scarce. However, rumor has it that the cabin will have an excellent styling.  Due to its long body and height, all passengers will have plenty of leg and headroom. Ideally, the Avalanche will accommodate five people and even a sixth one can be squeezed without much complaint from others due to its wide width. The seats, steering wheel and the dashboard will be upholstered in quality material in the base model while the top trim will feature leather upholstery.

The cabin will also be hooked up with latest technology features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, Smartphone integration and USB ports among others. It will also feature a modern infotainment system with a large touch-screen, a new audio system and climate control.

On matters safety, the 2016 Chevrolet Avalanche will come equipped with a number of safety features as standard. These features will include traction control, parking sensors, lane departure warning, anti theft alarm and blind spot monitoring.

Engine Specs and Performance

The 2016 Chevrolet Avalanche will come with unchanged drive-trains compared to the outgoing model. However, the unit has been modified to deliver more power. The first drive-train is a 5.3 L V8 Vortec engine which is capable of producing 355 hp, 35 horses better than the predecessor model. The engine is expected to do a 0-60 mph run in only 6.9 seconds which is impressive for a pickup of its size.

The higher trim variant comes fitted with a Vortec Max engine which produces 366 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. The engines will be paired with a 6-speed Hydra-Matic transmission system and will be offered in both FWD and AWD. In terms of fuel economy, the truck is rated at 15 mpg and 22 mpg for city and highway drives respectively.

Price and release date

Chevrolet is yet to release official details on the new 2016 Chevy Avalanche release date or price. However, we don’t expect the price to vary much from the outgoing model. The vehicle will likely be introduced in the first half of 2016 and will have a starting MSRP price of around $ 35,000.

When it hits the market, the 2016 Chevrolet Avalanche will face competition mainly from the new models of Ford F150 and Honda Ridgeline. Additionally, the Nissan Titan, Nissan Navara and Ram 1500 which are priced lower than the Avalanche will also pose some rivalry.
