Chevrolet is finalizing plans to start the sales of the second-generation SUV Equinox for the 2016 model year which made its debut in February. The new will get an upgraded exterior design as well as a slightly redesigned interior with quality upholstery and new equipment.

New trim lineup for the five-door SUV 2016 Chevrolet Equinox will be L, LS,LT and LTZ; the manufacturer has done away with the 1LT and 2LT trims.
Exterior features include a redesigned front fascia with a dual-port grille which has a chrome touch.
The LT and LTZ grilles will have distinctive chrome trims. New projector-beam headlights will be offered as standard for all models. The LT and LTZ trims get day time running lights as well as LED headlights and taillights while the L and LS trims get reflector-style lamps.
The LTZ trim will also get new fog lights. At the rear, the vehicle will feature Chevy-signature dual-element taillights, a redesigned license plate surround and a modified lower fascia. LTZ models get chrome trim on the lower fascia. The LT will run on 17-inch aluminum wheels while the LTZ will get 18-inch aluminum wheels.
The LS trim will have an option for 17-inch wheels. V6 models will get chrome exhaust tips.

On the inside, the new Equinox will accommodate five passengers, future models will have an option for seven passengers and will feature GM-MulltiFlex sliding rear seat. It will have 31.4 cubic feet of cargo space; the rear seat can be folded to further increase cargo space. The center stack has been revised to include a new storage shelf and new graphics for switches and buttons.
It will have new 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity and a rearview camera as standard for all models. The LT and LTZ trims will get side blind zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert. Rear passengers will enjoy tablet holders which will be mounted on the back of the front seats.
All trims will have OnStar with 4G LTE connectivity and a built in Wi-Fi spot. The LT and LTZ trims will feature Chevrolet MyLink. Forward collision alert and lane-departure alert will also be available.
Engine, Specs and Performance
Under the hood of the new 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, you will find a 2.4 L 4-cylinder power unit. This engine produces 182 hp at 6,700 rpm and 172 lb-ft of torque at 4,900 rpm. This will be the standard engine. There will be a second optional engine which will be a 3.6 L V6 unit that produces 301 hp and 272 lb-ft of torque.
Both units will be paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission system. Front wheel drive will be offered as standard with an option for four wheel drive. In terms of fuel economy, we expect the 2.4 L engine to deliver 22 mpg, 32 mpg and 26 mpg for city, highway and combined when paired with front-wheel drive and 20/29/23 mpg city/highway/combined when paired with all wheel drive. The V6 power plant will deliver 17/24/20 mpg city/highway/combined when paired with front-wheel drive and 16/23/19 city/highway/combined when paired with all-wheel drive.
Price and release date
The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox made its debut on the 2015 Chicago Motor Show earlier in the year. Its sales will commence in the fall of this year. The base trim will cost around $ 25,000 (MSRP). Higher trim levels will cost more.
Its main competitors will be the Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.
