Many people are waiting in baited breath for the release of the new 2016 Chrysler 200. This middle sized sedan will be very competitive in this highly competitive mid-sized market segment. Chrysler has added a convertible version to the new model which joins the current 4-door version. The new sedan will be offered in four trims which are 200 Limited, 200 LX, 200 C, and 200S.
2016 Chrysler 200 Exterior
The outside of the new Chrysler will be elegant and luxurious. The new vehicle will weigh 3,488 pounds. On the front, the vehicle will feature a new mesh grille with its signature Chrysler emblem on it. The headlights have also been redesigned to complement the front grille which results in a fine, stylish look.
The rear also comes with new taillights that have a trapezoid-like shape as well as new exhaust tips. The 2016 Chrysler 200 comes in standard mid-size sedan dimensions with a length of 192.3 inches, 73.7 width and a height of 58.7 inches.
2016 Chrysler 200 Interior
Sliding on the inside, you will be confronted with a black themed interior. The 200LX and 200 Limited will feature comfortable, premium cloth bucket seats while the 200C comes with leather upholstery and heated front seats. The model also features heat-vent cloth/leather seats as optional. The sedan also comes with display screens with higher trims featuring a 7-inch LED display.
The dash will have a curvy, stylish design with a new trapezoid instrumental panel between the two air vents. The interior will also come with other features such as a blind spot monitoring system, forward collision warning, an excellent audio system with 9 speakers, Bluetooth connectivity and an optional sunroof. For safety, the car comes with airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane- departure warning, autonomous braking, parking assist, forward collision warning and other optional features like a rear view camera depending on the trim level.
Engine, Specs and Performance
The 2016 Chrysler 200 will be offered in two different engine variants. The 200LX and the 200 Limited trims will feature a 2.4L I4 Multi Air engine that will produce 184 hp with 173 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the 200S and 200C will feature a 3.6 L V6 engine that will produce 295 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. All engines will be mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission system.
Additionally, the Chrysler will be offered in front-wheel drive mode as standard though the 200S and 200C will have all wheel drive mode as an option. The sedan will move from 0-60 mph in only 8.4 seconds. When it comes to fuel economy for the 2016 Chrysler 200, the base inline-4 engine will deliver 23 mpg and 36 mpg for city and highway drive respectively.
The V6 engine has ratings of 19 mpg and 32 mpg for city and highway with front wheel drive mode while the all wheel drive mode has ratings of 18 mpg and 29 mpg for city and highway respectively.
Price and release date
The auto maker has not released details on the 2016 Chrysler price or release date. However, we expect the base trim to cost around $ 22,000 and $ 35,000 for the top trim. We expect the mid-size sedan to arrive in the first half of 2016.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has suspended production of the 200 and Dodge Dart in February 2016, and they were based on the production of Jeep SUVs and Ram pickup trucks. The remaining copies of Chrysler 200 are available at Chrysler’s dealer showrooms.
