2016 Ford Explorer Review, Price

Since 1903, Ford Motor Company has been a leader in automotive production; and since 1990, with the first model of the Ford Explorer, a leader in sport utility vehicle (SUV) manufacturing. Over time the companies vehicles have only gotten better. The 2016 Ford Explorer, the 25th anniversary edition, is sure to be a success. Here is what there is to look forward to:

Ford has updated the look and style of the newest Explorer. It displays satin chrome accents from front to back; beginning with the new grille all the way to the rear lift gate. Speaking of the lift gate, Ford has added a feature allowing one to simply wave their foot under the lift gate to open. This hands free option is great for loading the vehicle. The Explorer is still a midsize SUV, but carries over spacious first and second row seating that allows plenty of room for cargo. The trim levels have changed however. The options are now: base, XLT, limited, sport and platinum. The new platinum level is a fully loaded model for those wanting a unique look. It offers a dual panel moon roof along with 20 inch wheels and LED headlights. The offer of exterior colors is not large, there are Blue Jeans Metallic, Ingot Silver Metallic, Oxford White, Ruby Red Metallic and Shadow Black.

The interior of the 2016 Ford model is accented with authentic wood and premium leather seats. Special features include cameras on both the front and rear of the vehicle allowing for a 180-degree view of surroundings, electronic parking assistance, and sensors that tell you if you’re too close to another vehicle. Ford has updated the Explorers safety features as well with inflatable rear seat belts, a blind spot information system, cross traffic alert, and a lane keeping system.

There are 3 engine options available with the 2016 Ford Explorer:

-3.5 liter V6, 290 hp, 255 lb-ft of torque, accelerate 0-60 for 8 sec and top speed of 155 mph
-2.3 liter EcoBoost 4 cylinder (updated from the 2.0 liter) with 270 hp and 300 pound-feet of torque
-3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 with 365 horsepower
These come with a 6 speed, automatic transmission and front or four wheel drive. Ford says that these engine options will retain the fuel economy of previous options with mpg ranging up to 28 miles per gallon on the highway.
