The new Jaguar XF was driven 780ft accross a high wire by Jim Dowdall, famous British stuntman, in order to demonstrate the light aluminum-intensive construction of the vehicle.
The all-new 2016 Jaguar XF brings an unrivalled blend of refinement, fuel economy, dynamics and design to the business car segment.
The exterior of the 2016 Jaguar XF hasn’t changed a lot. The all-new vehicle has kept the main features of its predecessor, but introduces advanced aluminum-intensive architecture. 75% of the exterior is made of pure aluminum, which reduced the vehicle weight by up to 265 lbs. The torsional stiffness has been increased up to 28%.
The ideal balance has been achieved through the sophisticated two-fold wishbone and Integral Link suspension, accompanied with 50:50 weight distribution.
The interior design of the 2016 Jaguar XF uses a seamless mix of modern fancy materials and finishes, smooth and sophisticated surfaces, well-known craftsmanship and state of the art technology.
The wheelbase is 2” longer, which enables the rear seat space with much more legroom, kneeroom and headroom.
In terms of the infotainment and connectivity, this vehicle is the most advanced one Jaguar has ever had. The new InControl Touch Pro premium infotainment system has a 10.2” touchscreen, followed by a reconfigurable 12.3” TFT instrument cluster and Dual View technology which allows the driver to simultaneously see information (e.g. navigation) while the front passenger is watching TV.
InControl Touch Pro possesses a solid-state drive, a quad-core processor and it runs on pretty fast Ethernet. All of this results in the delivery of amazing graphics and excellent response times.
Engine and performance
Engines available for the 2016 Jaguar XF light aluminum construction will be 2.0-liter Ingenium diesel engines in 180PS/430 Nm and 163 PS/380Nm ratings, eith specially-optimised 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmissions.
Other engines – 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo diesel and 3.0-liter V6 supercharged petrol engine – come exclusively with 8-speed automatic transmissions. With this engine, the new Jaguar XF is reaching top speed of 119 mph (191.5 km / h) and accelerates 0-60 mph in 5.3 sec. Fuel consumption ranges from 17 mpg (13.8 l / 100 km) city drive, to decent 27 mpg (8.7 l / 100km) on the highway The former produces up to 300 PS and 700 Nm of torque, whereas the latter produces 380 PS/450 Nm. The supercharged V8 engine hasn’t been mentioned yet.
As it was already the case, the XF comes with a rear-drive as standard, but it will be offered with a 4-wheel drive.
The XF will also have available optional adaptive damping and Jag’s Configurable Dynamics package.
