2016 Mitsubishi Outlander has undergone a myriad of changes – and it’s not just about that new better looking front and redesigned rear end. The manufacturer claims that the redesigned Outlander 2016 has more than 100 engineering and design improvements compared to the previous model.
2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Exterior
According to the manufacturer, the exterior styling tweaks are highly important to the majority of customers who like to venture into great outdoors and live life to the fullest.
The exterior design comprises a modern and aggressive-looking revised front fascia, reshaped front fenders, halogen headlights, LED position lights, lower door sections, 18” alloy wheels, rear fascia and LED taillights (on all models). For the Outlander GT model, brand new exterior features include power-folding side mirrors, windshield wiper deicer and LED headlamps.
Some other features that may come across as interesting are wheel arch moldings, color-keyed front & rear bumpers with chrome accent, color-keyed exterior door handles, roof carrier plug-in accommodation and heated outside mirrors.
New Outlander Interior
2016 Mitsubishi Outlander’s interior hasn’t really changed enough to come near the best in the class.
Upon entering the car, one can notice that the way the door closes has been improved. Mitsubishi states this was an essential change that made it feel more premium.
New items inside include a redesigned steering wheel, new headlining with sunglasses holder in LS and XLS models, as well as redesigned seats with new trims and stitching, worked over for comfort improvement. Although it does look way nicer than before, it isn’t nearly as plush as Mazda CX-5.
Equipment levels are decent for the Outlander. On top of the standard reverse-view camera and sensors, there’s satellite navigation from this spec up. The XLS trim has commodities such as auto lights and wipers, dual-zone climate control and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
As for the cabin space, the Outlander makes good use of it. There is enough space for four larger adults, and the third-row is spacious enough for kids. There’s just the right amount of storage through the cabin, with large door pockets and cup-holders in the front, as well as large door caddies in the back.
Engine and Specs
While the looks have changed to a great extent, there hasn’t been much change under the hood.
2016 Mitsubishi Outlander will be powered by the 2.4-liter Inline 4-cylinder petrol engine putting out 166 hp and 162 lb-ft with minor fuel consumption enhancements, whereas 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 224 hp and 215 lb-ft of torque will be an option for XLS model. The petrol keeps operating adequately with 124kW of power and 220Nm of torque. Acceleration 0-60 mph new Outlander 2016 achieves for 9.2 seconds, while top speed is about 110 mph.
The engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Some other major enhancements concern NVH.
