It has been statistically proven that about 30-40% of truck buyers always return to a new model from their favorite brand. Being among the top-selling truck brands, Nissan will try to expand the truck’s fan base by means of thorough overview and some additional features in the 2016 Nissan Titan.
The vehicle will be available in two frame sizes (the larger one being “XD“), three cab configurations, five trim levels and three bed lengths. Non-XDs will be 20“ shorter in wheelbase than XDs.
As for the exterior, the highlights for the 2016 Titan mode include LED headlamps and bed lighting, removable locking in-bed storage boxes, a damped tailgate opening as well as a household-like power outlet in the bed.
This powerful truck needs a larger and stronger chassis to handle TITAN XD’s expanded towing and payload potential. Therefore, the Nissan engineers used chassis of the Nissan Commercial as a base, from which they designed a new frame and chassis.
Some other interesting parts of equipment concerning exterior are: auxiliary transmission fluid cooler, painted finish bumpers, vinyl floor covering, steel spare wheel, underbody mounted spare tire and cargo tie downs.
Available exterior colors will be: Forged Copper, Magnetic Black, Cayenne Red, Pearl White and Deep Blue Pearl.
2016 Nissan Titan Interior
Interior-wise, the 2016 Nissan Titan XD is unbelievably comfortable thanks to supportive, leather-appointed split bench front seats. The front and rear seats have the option for heating and ventilating. By relocating the shifter to the steering column, more space has been made for the huge center console. All over the cabin, storage features and power sources have been arranged carefully.
The cabin also comes equipped with a 7“ display for navigation and infotainment.
The new Titan 2016 also offers safety features including blind spot warning, front and rear sensors, a 360-degree view camera with trailer guides when backing up, and hill ascent/descent control. Towing aids will also be available such as trailer brake control, sway control and a trailer light-check system.
Engine specs and performance
The 2016 Titan will use all-new Cummins 5.0-liter V8 turbodiesel. This engine brings better fuel economy than its gasoline competitors, and will only be available on XD models. It delivers 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm, and will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Estimated average consumption is 22 to 25 mpg, similar to the Ram 1500 with a diesel engine.
According to Nissan, a properly equipped Titan XD should be able to tow more than 12,000 pounds and have a payload capacity greater than 2,000 pounds.
Price and release date
The release date manufacturer announced for late 2015, the pricing have not yet been officially released, but the estimated starting price should be around $25,000, whereas the Premium Reserve XD model could cost as much as $50,000.
