When Toyota first introduced the concept of the Toyota FT-1 (Future Toyota One), it was received with widespread support, excitement and enthusiasm. Toyota confirmed that it has been their natural progression to manufacture and assemble a racetrack car which gives an authentic track experience for Gran Turismo fans. This is a futuristic car which merges Supra Styling with F1 influences. The design has proved its performance in the virtual speed world computer game.
This model is a rear-drive coupe. It is projected to have an in-line 6 cylinder turbo charged engine or the 2URGSE (IS-F) but in twin turbo form (650hp). The fundamental architecture and shape of this model portrays an increase in extra cooling and down force elements to develop the car into its vision guise. New Toyota FT1 will accelerate 0-60 mph in less than 4 sec, the maximum speed can reach is about 180 mph.
The Toyota engineers and designers studied real life race tracks and cars then proceeded to the styling venture. This resulted in the delivery of a car that broadcasts raw performance and power in its basic function driven outlook.
The roof line is canted and this gives it a visual stressed look without unbalancing its overall shape. This concept car has a clear engine cover also which makes it intriguing.
The North American International Auto show is where this 3-dimensional frenzy Toyota FT-1 “Concept car” will debut.
With triple-LED headlights, Formula-1 inspired beak, a radia-tor’s air divided between two shark like mouths and each filled with electric fans sitting atop angled splitters clearly makes this a racing car. It has numerous air intakes on the flanks which are subsequently engulfed by rocker panels which instantly erupt into muscular hind wheels arches. It has Venturi tunnel openings, a high density array of 35 LED foglights, twin storm-drain exhausts and extendable wing.
The wheel arches are broader for the accommodation of wider tires required to increase the grip and stability of racing cars. The enlarged air intakes are for rapid efficient cooling of the engine when it attains top speed at full throttle. Larger hind wing and front Canard fins assist in the generation of greater down force.
Toyota FT-1 in addition has a larger rear diffuser which contains multiple fins set further back to create a clean flow of air to avoid any choking of the engine.
