The new 2016 Cadillac CT6 brings improved fuel economy and weight reduction, along with a new generation of V6 engines for Cadillac.
2016 Cadillac CT6 Exterior
The exterior of the new 2016 Cadillac CT6 will be a bit wider, lower and longer than the CTS. It will have a longer hood, a larger trunk and a completely new chassis which is to be used for future full-size luxury cars and crossovers.
The shape of the vehicle is aggressive and straight-edged, retaining what’s already been seen from Cadillac in the previous years.
The front fascia is equipped with a massive grille wrapped in chrome, and the high-tech lighting clusters extending from the fenders down in LED strips toward the fog lights on the lower fascia.
Some important exterior dimensions are: Wheelbase 122.4 / 3106 (in / mm), Length 204 / 5184 (in / mm), Width 74 / 1879 (in / mm), Height 57.9 / 1472 (in / mm).
According to the manufacturer, this hefty sedan will weigh 3700 lbs in total, the same as the CTS although it looks much more massive. This has been achieved through the use of a heavy dose of aluminum for all exterior body panels and structural castings.
2016 Cadillac CT6 Interior
The cabin of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 is expected to have seats covered in leather, to feature large swaths of wood and aluminum trim, to be accented by LED ambient lighting.
From the spy photos it seems that the rear seats are large enough to offer optional folding seats with footrests. If that turns out not to be the case, there will certainly be plenty of rear legroom.
As for the infotainment part, it’s most likely that it will remain unchanged and unimproved in comparison to the previous Cadillac models.
2016 Cadillac CT6 Engine and performance
The CT6 will use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 400 hp and 400 pound-feet of torque. Since it will be producing 133 hp per liter it was named one of the most power-dense V6 DOHC engines in the world. This engine will pack cylinder deactivation and a stop-start system in order to save fuel. Cadillac emphasizes that the motor will be using a manifold-integrated water-to-air charge cooling system.
Apart from the turbo engine, the vehicle will also get a new edition of the 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 improved to put out 335 hp and 284 pound-feet of torque.
It is also announcing four-cylinder 2.0 liter engine with 265 horsepower, it is estimated that the model with this engine accelerate 0-60 mph in 6.5 sec and will reach a top speed of 155 mph.
The vehicle will come with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
