I still don’t understand why Ford decided to pull it out of the U.S. market. However, the automaker has had to rethink about it and is planning to re-launch the Ford Ranger again.
2016 Ford Ranger Exterior
The new 2016 Ford Ranger will be an attractive pick up. It will come in two body shapes i.e. a single cab with two doors and a double cab with four doors. The vehicle comes with a light aluminum and high resistance steel body which is meant to reduce its weight which was one of its predecessor disadvantages particularly in the U.S. market.
On the front fascia, the truck grille will be altered and redesigned to look more modern. The truck will also feature new LED headlights and tail lights. The headlights will also receive a sharper line meant to provide the automobile with a more aggressive look. It will also have new-modern lines which will add to its aggressive appearance.
2016 Ford Ranger Interior
The interior of this cab will surprise many motorists. Unlike other cabs, the Ford ranger comes in a car-like interior. The central console will be available in two color tones and will centralize information on climate control, navigation and entertainment. It will come with a host of technology features which will boost its handling, stability, control and safety. These features will include a tire pressure monitoring system, lane keep alert, cruise control, park assist, forward alert, electronic stability program and hill descent control.
The interior will also feature sound deafening materials and insulation so as to ensure a silent cabin for the driver and passengers. Depending on the trim level, the interior will also feature heated and ventilated seats covered in premium leather. As well it will feature SYNC 2 and Ford’s in-car connectivity system that offers the driver full and centralized control of features such as climate control, navigations system as well as voice commands. There is also a 240 volts power socket which can charge your laptops and other devices.
Engine, Specs and Fuel Consumption
According to credible information, the new 2016 Ford Ranger will have four engine options. One engine will have a turbocharger with direct injection but the second one won’t have a turbocharger.
The first of the two will be a 2.2 L EcoBoost engine. The engine will produce 158 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque with fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg for city and 30 mpg on highway. This engine will appeal to many fans in the market because it will be one of the best fuel efficient in its class.
The second engine option will be an EcoBoost 2.5 L turbocharged Duratec unit powered by gasoline. This engine will have the capability to produce 163hp and 166 lb-ft of torque.
The vehicle will also feature a diesel unit. This unit will be a 2.2 L Duratorq 4-cylinder TDCi engine with a capacity to produce 160 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque. Another engine in the pipeline is a 3.2 L Duratorq 5-cylinder TDCi engine capable of producing 200 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque. All engines will be mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission system.
Price and release date
We understand that the new Ford Ranger will commence production in the last quarter of 2015. Its sales will commence in 2016. There is no official communication on its price or release date though. The base trim will cost around $ 20,000 MSRP.
The model will face competition from Toyota Hilux, Volkswagen Amarok and its sister Ford F-150.
