The enthusiasts expect the 2016 GMC Canyon to be more fun and at least slightly updated in new release.
The exterior of the 2016 GMC Canyon is reminiscent of the Chevy Colorado in terms of shape. When it comes to the body elements, all of them are brand new, and the front grille has been borrowed from the Sierra. All in all, the Canyon keeps its own unique look.
A new element which seems as if it’s meant to be the future trademark of this truck. Aggressive and sinister look is achieved through sharp edges and high ground clearance, with no rounded hood or front mask or bumper. The vehicle is equipped with small and subtle head lamps. Strong alloy wheels are quite big.
Truck concept is well-known for its four door and back loading boot. There are new trim levels such as Work Truck and Canyon Denali.
2016 GMC Canyon Interior
As for the interior of the 2016 GMC Canyon, it arrives with a bunch of good equipment and quality materials.
The standard model comes with automatic climate control, cruise control, a 7” screen displaying information about the vehicle, but also serves as the infotainment system and the rear view camera screen.
The rear seats are comfy and there is plenty of room for two adults to sit perfectly comfortable. The optional equipment for the GMC Canyon 2016 includes satellite navigation, leather upholstery, aluminum or even wood inserts and a pair of really comfortable front seats with both heating and ventilation included in them.
Engine Specs and performance
Under the hood of the new GMC Canyon 2016 will most probably be an engine similar to the one of its predecessor – a 2.5-liter Inline 4 delivering 200 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. This engine has an excellent performance but lacks the towing power.
The better choice for the engine would be the 3.6-liter V6 with an output of 305 horsepower. When this engine is joined to the optional towing package, 2016 GMC Canyon towing capacity goes up to 7000 pounds.
Both of these engines should come standard with a 6-speed manual and rear-wheel-drive, with a 6-speed automatic and four-wheel-drive as an option.
Some enthusiasts expect this model to use a 2.8-liter Duramax XLD28 turbo diesel engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which should be produced in Thailand.
Price and release date
The 2016 GMC Canyon was said to be available in the showroom starting from March this year. However, it won’t be released before the half of the next year. It’s starting price is expected to be something about $38,000.
