Like some other models, in some countries, 2016 Opel Insignia goes by another name. In Britain, it’s called 2016 Vauxhall Insignia, in China it’s known as 2016 Buick Regal, while in Oceania it’s called 2016 Holden Insignia.

2016 Insignia is seen as an enhancement of 2013 Opel Monza concept, since it has front-wheels Epsilon II platform for the basis.
In order to reduce the overall weight and lower the fuel consumption, the designers decided to use aluminum as the body material.
As for the front part, a redesigned bumper with fresh grilles will be followed by stronger lighting and the headlights will take modern design. The rear part will probably remain the same.
2016 Opel Insignia Interior
2016 Opel Insignia interior will look quite smooth and much sportier than the current model. Both front and rear seats will be wrapped in premium leather.
The central part of the cockpit will be equipped with an 8” touchscreen display with an updated navigation and infotainment system. Some options announced for the new model are: a new sound system, improved navigation, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and automatic air conditioning.
There is also a large number of security features, which includes air glasses. Drivers will be able to rely on advanced functions such as driver-assistance speed-adaptive cruise control and lane change assistance.
Engine and Specs
Redesigned Insignia will be powered by the same engine used by the current model, only improved. This means there will be a range of petrol and diesel engines. The weakest one is a 1.4-liter Inline-4 petrol engine delivering 140 horsepower. Next in line is 1.6-liter Inline-4 delivering 170 horsepower. Then come 1.8-liter (140 horsepower), 2-liter Inline-4 (200 and 250 horsepower), and 2.8-liter V6 engine (260 and 325 horsepower). Moving on to diesel engines, there is a 2-liter Inline-4 engine delivering 120, 140, 163 and 195 horsepower.
It will be able to accelerate 0-62 mph in 7 seconds and reach top speed of 142 mph. the customers will choose between a 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed automatic transmission.
The manufacturer also announced an improvement when it comes to fuel economy. So will the basic 1.4-liter version on average spend about 5 liters of petrol and 2.0 diesel engine will expend an average of one liter less.
Price and release date
2016 Opel Insignia will appear in the following variants: sedan, hatchback and station wagon. The pricing is expected to be slightly raised, beginning at about $22,000 for the basic model, while the price of the most expensive OPC versions go up to $ 50,000.
The vehicle will be produced in Russelsheim, Germany, and will hit the dealers late this year or early next year.
