Motivated by the growing success of the Yeti, Skoda is undertaking the production of another SUV model. The Czech based subsidiary of VW is still keeping most details of this SUV a closely guarded secret including the name but reliable sources indicate that it will carry the Kodiaq nametag. In the previous period speculated with the name Snowman, but the Skoda confirmed Kodiaq as the name of their future SUV.
2016 Skoda Kodiaq Exterior
The all new 2016 Skoda Kodiaq will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. It will be slightly bigger than the Yeti. Actually, the Kodiaq is currently being tested on the streets but disguised in a Yeti body.
Since there are no official photos or spy shots, our engineers have come up with a rendering based on the information we have. As with the other Skoda models, the Snowman will feature the unique Skoda grille at the front fascia. The grille will be flanked by angular designed headlights which come with projector units. There will also be fog lights integrated lower on the bumper. It will also feature a skid front plate.
At the back, the taillights also feature an angular shape. There is also a roof spoiler, rear skid plates with a silver finish and dual exhaust pipes. The side profile will feature muscular arches and a shoulder line that connects headlights and taillights. The 2016 Skoda Kodiaq will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels.

2016 Skoda Kodiaq Interior
The new 2016 Skoda Kodiaq will be offered in two trim levels. The base model will have a 7-passenger seating arrangement while the other trim will feature a five-seat arrangement. Since it is a family hauler, the SUV will feature a cabin that is comfortable and convenient.
Rumor has it that the Skoda Snowman 2016 will borrow most of its interior styling from the VW Toureg. According to our sources, the cabin will be spacious with plenty of head and legroom. Its seats will be upholstered with quality leather with a possibility of heated front seats.
The vehicle will also have various technologies and safety features. It will have a 5-inch colored touch-screen display, an automatic climate control system, a rearview camera, Smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and Wi-Fi. It will also have a quality sound system. When it comes to safety, Skoda has included a package of 8-airbags, ABS, child lock and several driving aids.
Under the hood, the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq will be equipped with two TSI gasoline drive-trains and a TDI diesel engine. The first gasoline engine is a 1.4 L, TSI unit with the capability to produce 150 hp.
The second TSI engine is a 2.0 L which ups output to 180 hp. Switching gear to the diesel power-train, the model is equipped with a 2.0 L, TDI unit that is capable of producing 184 hp.
Power will be channeled to the front wheels as standard but there is an option for all-wheel-drive mode. Skoda is yet to reveal other engine specifications such as fuel economy, acceleration and top speed. We will update you immediately we receive updates on the same.
Price and release date
The vehicle was largely expected to debut before the half of the year but it is now rumored that the Skoda Kodiaq will make its maiden debut in September on Paris Motor Show, and will appear in the showrooms early next year (2017). The vehicle price will range between $ 24 000 and $ 30 000.
