2017 Audi A8 Exterior
The 2017 Audi A8 will be based on the MLB Evo platform as opposed to the MLP platform on which the current model is based. This is the same platform that underpins the new A4 and Q7 models.
The new platform will lead to a huge reduction in its overall curb weight. Audi A8 used to be the automaker’s most advanced car but it fell behind other models in 2009. Audi plans to make the new model once again its most advanced model. To make this possible, the automaker has hooked up the new model with a whole new design compared to the outgoing model. Though details are still scarce and the model our spy photographers caught up testing was under heavy disguise, we understand that its chassis has been redesigned and is constructed with aluminum which is responsible for the weight reduction.
The vehicle will also feature a modified grille, redesigned bumpers and LED headlights with a new design. The new design is meant to take on its competitors from Mercedes, BMW, Porsche and Bentley head on. Overall, the automaker has hooked up the vehicle with an aggressive and modern look while still retaining the elegance Audi is known for.
