The 2017 Cadillac XT5 is a completely-reworked luxury crossover that will go “tire-to-tire“ with the upcoming 2016 Lexus RX 350 when it goes on sale.
2017 Cadillac XT5 Exterior
The looks of the new Cadillac XT5 finally shown to the public after many spy photos, the new 2017 XT5 suddenly appeared on the streets of Manhattan. Cadillac is officially remained silent about it. Nevertheless, according to some rumors the XT5 has changed platform from the Epsilon II that the SRX rides on to a new Chi platform that will be available in regular (C1UL) and long-wheelbase (C1UL) versions.
It seems that the XT5 is roughly the same size as the SRX, and it is expected it to adopt some cues from the CTS and upcoming CT6. The vertical LED lights and hard angles will certainly all be a part of the new SUV’s design.
2017 Cadillac XT5 Interior
The interior of the 2017 Cadillac XT5 is an even greater mystery than the exterior design. Since this model will not be arriving to the dealerships until 2017, a myriad of next-generation gadgets are expected to be seen. There is even a chance of getting to see an early example of Cadillac’s Super Cruise, semi-autonomous driving system.
As it has always been the case with Cadillac, the XT5 is to feature premium animal hide, all the latest bells and whistles, and loads of options.
Engine Specs and performance
The new 2017 Cadillac XT5 is likely to be powered by an updated version of the 2015 SRX’s 3.6-liter V-6 engine. GM is said to also be working on a turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 that would fit nicely in the new SUV. Since the hybrids are becoming more frequent among luxury automakers, there is a chance of Cadillac offering a plug-in hybrid model.
When it comes to the drivetrain format, the XT5 will probably retain the SRX’s front- or all-wheel-drive.
Price and release date
It is still early and hard to tell the price of the 2017 Cadillac XT5, but for the purpose of rough orientation and an educated guess, the 2015 SRX’s pricing starts at $37,605. Based on this, it is “guesstimated” that the XT5 pricing will start at $40,000, whereas the extended-wheelbase model will start at $42,000.
It has been reported that Cadillac will unveil the model at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show which is scheduled for November 20 – 29, 2015. This means the vehicle will go on sale no sooner than December of 2015.
