2018 Audi RS5 Vs 2018 BMW M4

2018 Audi RS5 Vs 2018 BMW M4

NiceCarsInfo Team May 9, 2017

The 2017 Geneva Motor show, featured the unveiling of the new Audi RS5 Coupe. A new beauty, bustling with amazing specifications that will make any car lover salivate uncontrollably. It is very different from its predecessor and would have successfully carved a niche for itself if not for the stiff competition the 2018 BMW M4 presents. This car shares vast similarities with the RS5 in terms of design, engines, trivial specifications, and lots more. It is only right that we compare both the RS5 and M4, especially since the 2018 Audi RS5 Coupe is yet to officially hit the auto market.
We shall take a brief look at the similarities they both share and let you be the final judge. Regardless of what you love to see in your cars, both the 2018 Audi RS5 Coupe and 2018 BMW M4 promise to be the real deal.

2018 Audi RS5 Vs 2018 BMW M4

2018 Audi RS5 Vs 2018 BMW M4 Interior differences

This is probably the only part where both cars do not share a lot of similarities. The interior of the M4 features designs and arrangements that are similar to that of a 430i M Sports cabin with a characteristic carbon fiber. On the other hand, the 2018 Audi RS5 features an interior that is peculiar to it alone. In terms of the seats, the 2018 BMW M4 provides comfort in that its seats have holes in them but so does the Audi RS5. The RS5 pushes its qualities further with an exceptional hexagonal re-stitching feature. It is also difficult not to notice its flat-bottom Alcantara-covered steering wheel, enormous cockpit screen, and the vast contrast red stitching.

If you are a lover of a sporty and stunning interior just like me, you will find the 2018 Audi RS5 difficult to resist. Though we are yet to drive this beauty, it is only normal to imagine what it would feel like to actually cruise one. The 2018 BMW M4 may find it difficult to compete with the 2018 RS5 if interior design is the only criteria for judgment.

Exterior

It is probably very difficult to choose between both cars when viewed from the exterior. They exude a very intimidating and aggressive ambiance that could knock anyone off their feet. The RS5 may slightly edge the M4 out based on its better looking and sharper lines with a bolder appeal. The aluminum grill which is brushed along the grill and the lower lip spoiler is simply classic and may seem to give people more reasons to choose the RS5 over the M4.

Yes, it may seem the RS5 beats the BMW M4 at the front but it sure doesn’t when it comes to the back design. The M4 has a really unique rump and a quad exhaust which beats the RS5’s big ovular exhausts. The 2018 Audi RS5 Coupe is expected to have a not-so-special tacked lip while the M4 features a rather special ducktail spoiler infused into its rear deck. Although I love the stylish writing of “Quattro” at the grill of the RS5, a feature which the M4 does not share. Over-all, 2018 BMW M4 can be said to be prettier than the 2018 Audi Coupe.

Engines

The engine of both cars are similar in spec and actual performance. The 2018 RS5 is powered by a powerful 2.9liter twin turbo-charged V6 engine, an innovation co-developed with Porsche. This has the capability to generate 442 lb-ft of torque and 450 horsepower. The combination of this engine with an as-standard 8-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive enables the RS5 to jump from 0-6omph within a short space of 3.9 seconds.

The competition between the 2018 BMW M4 and 2018 Audi RS5 is strongest here. The M4 has the capacity to produce a very close 444 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque from its twin turbocharged I6 engine. The combination of this with a 7-speed double-clutch transmission, allows the car to move from 0-60 mph in a record 3.8 seconds. This is a very similar result to the RS5’s 3.9 seconds.

Price and Release date

The 2018 BMW M4 has already been driven by quite a number of people but the Audi 2018 RS5 is yet to be released. Rumored release date suggest an official release later in the year or in the early parts of the new year, 2018. The price of both cars is also similar, this means the RS5 should cost something between $60,000 and $70,000.
