BMW has always excelled in producing excellent automobiles. In the case of this model, they saw a need to come develop a model that was neither a SUV nor a coup but in-between to offer benefits of both worlds. Their solution was the 2017 BMW X4 built as a smaller and sportier version of the much larger X5.
2017 BMW X4 Exterior
According to our interior sources and from the leaked photos of the upcoming BMW X4 M40i we can tell that the 2017 BMW X4 will have refreshed exterior with a unique profile.
The front will feature large air intakes, a redesigned, prominent grille and BMW’s signature round headlights. The headlights will feature LED technology. The vehicle will also feature a coup-like roof line while the rear will feature a pronounced bumper hooked with LED taillights.
2017 BMW X4 Interior
There is not much information yet on this vehicles interior styling. We however expect the automaker to offer most of the previous model’s interiors features with a modern touch. The interior of 2017 BMW X4 will accommodate five passengers.
The interior is carefully designed and features premium quality materials. We expect to see a full color BMW Head-Up display which enables the driver to view all information of the vehicle without taking eyes of the road. Also, there will be a number of driver assist features like pedestrian warning with brake activation, lane departure warning, parking sensors and front collision warning.
For improved comfort, the vehicle will be fitted with a remote controlled auxiliary heater to offer relief in cold weather and dual zone climate control. In general, the cabin borrows much from the X3. The cabin also features a panoramic sunroof, rear end and top view parking cameras. Other features include iDrive mounted touchpad and knob, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and AUX inputs as well as a universal garage door opener.
For entertainment, the car features a satellite radio, a large touch screen and a 600 watt 16 speaker audio system. For improved safety of passengers, the vehicle offers dual side airbags, side curtain airbags and traction and stability control systems.
Engine Specs and Performance
To power the X4, BMW is expected to go with the xDrive 28i which contains a 2.0 L turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine paired with an 8-speed shiftable automatic gearbox. This unit will produce around 240 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It will deliver estimated EPA ratings of 20 mpg, 28 mpg and 23 mpg for city, highway and combined drives respectively .
Buyers looking for more power will have the option for the xDrive 35i 3.0 L turbocharged inline-6 engine that will produce 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. This unit will also be paired with an 8-speed shiftable automatic transmission system. The engine has estimated fuel economy rating of 19/27/22 mpg for city / highway / combined drives.
The engine powers the new 2017 BMW X4 from 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds. There are also rumors of a more powerful engine that will shoot the output to between 360 and 380 hp. All engines will be offered in all-wheel drive mode.
Price and release date
It is still way too early to expect official report on the X4’s price or release date. However, we don’t expect the price of the 2017 BMW X4 to vary much from the current model. As such, we expect a starting MSRP price of around $ 50,000.
