The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is a limited edition car produced by Italian automaker Lamborghini, which debuted at the The Sesto Elemento’s name means “the sixth element” and refers to the atomic number of carbon, due to the substantial amount of carbon used in the production of the vehicle.
Richard Hammond from Top Gear proclaimed it “the poster car of now”.
Lamborghini’s collaboration with the Boeing company was, perhaps, the most significant to the development of the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento – together, they’ve developed the CFRP design better than ever. The wheels are completely made of carbon fiber and the exhaust system is made of Pyrosic, a heatproof glass material.
Almost all of the vehicle’s panels were made of carbon fiber (the front frame, exterior panels, monocoque passenger cell and crash boxes). Another cool thing about it is that it looks as if it wasn’t painted at all.
As for the lighting, it has the sharply cut headlamps, bi-xenon lamps and four LEDs.
The vehicle also has progressively designed aerodynamic elements.
In a nutshell, the interior of Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is small and tight, with comforts like air-car stereo and air-conditioning.
The designers of the car focused their attention on the interior’s function and practicality, rather than its shape and form. For instance, there are no actual seats; the seats are, in fact, pads attached to the carbon fiber tub. This gives the driver a real sense of road feel. The steering wheel is completely height- and reach-adjustable.
As for the fancy cover-materials, there are none. The interior, just like the exterior, sends those race-car vibrations.
When it comes to the controls, they are very user-friendly.
Engine and performance
Lamborghini Sesto Elemento uses a 5.2-liter V10 engine with a 570 hp (425 KW) output and 400 pound-feet of torque (540 Nm). It’s mated with a 6-speed semi-automatic transmission with paddle shift and all-wheel drive system. The engine allows 5,204cm3 of displacement, with 80.5 kW per liter.
The air is released through 10 different holes in the engine cover, whereas cool air is funneled by two intakes into the mid-mounted engine compartment.
This is the lightest vehicle Lamborghini has ever made.
It is able to develop acceleration of 0-60 mph in 2.5 sec. Top speed that this fantastic street racer can reach is 219 mph (352 km / h) !
Price and release date
Lamborghini Sesto Elemento was unveiled in 2010 at Paris Motor Show. Lamborghini produced only 20 Sesto Elemento vehicles and all of them were sold at the price ranging from $2.2 million to $2.9 million.
